Otley and Yeadon Green Party has announced candidates for the upcoming local elections.
Party Secretary Cath Harrison will stand in the Otley Town Council by-election in the West Chevin ward on March 22nd, while current Town Councillor Mick Bradley will contest one of the three seats in the Otley and Yeadon ward of Leeds City Council on May 5th.
Cllr Bradley said: "We want voters to have a real choice of candidates who will work for the common good. For instance, over the past three years as the town council's single Green I have initiated a local Flood Study by Cambridge University and also monitored air quality in Otley.
"I have worked with the Lib Dems on positive issues, like a cleaner environment and safer cycling, and with the new Labour MP Alex Sobel on improving local recycling facilities."
Cath Harrison has a degree in Environmental Science, serves on the Committee of the Friends of Gallows Hill, was involved with the Practically Green local environmental group and is part of the Otley Community Energy Group.
She said: "I am keen to protect the green belt around Otley both for residents and to preserve green corridors for wildlife.
"We need to seriously tackle clean air issues, traffic congestion and road safety in the town.
"Another particular issue in this ward is the proposed excessive airport expansion, which would lead to increased noise pollution over longer hours for West Chevin residents who are on the airport flight path."
